Supreme court gave government a clean chit on the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France and dismissed all the petitions seeking a direction to the CBI to register an FIR for alleged irregularities in the deal.
The bench of three member including Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, said there was nothing to doubt the decision-making process in the multi-billion dollar deal. The other members of that bench Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph also said that there are no personal situation of that matter or commercial favouritism to any private entity.
The top court said there has been a necessity for fighter aircraft and the country cannot remain without jets. The apex court said that it is not the duty of the court to decide the deal price related matters. Country can’t be come between two political party and no occation to make this situaltion for political favour.
